Money & Banking
Cash vs bank, paychecks, ATMs and banks, bills, and buying licences at City Services.
Cash and bank
You have two main kinds of money:
| Cash | Bank | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it lives | On your character | In your bank account |
| Can be stolen | Yes, if you're robbed | No |
| Can go negative | No | Yes, from fines and bills |
| Starting amount | $5,000 | $5,000 |
Don't carry more cash than you need. Deposit the rest.
Banks and ATMs
Use the third eye on an ATM or bank teller to deposit, withdraw and transfer money. Banks also let you manage shared accounts, for example for a business or a group of friends.
You can also check your balance and send money from the bank app on your phone.
Paychecks
If you have a job, you get a paycheck every 10 minutes while you're on duty. It goes straight into your bank account. Most paychecks come from the business's own account, so a business that's doing well can pay its staff.
Unemployed characters (Civilian) still receive a small paycheck.
Bills and fines
Police can issue fines, and hospitals bill you for treatment. These come out of your bank account, and you can go into debt.
Licences
Visit the City Services blip to buy licences:
| Licence | Cost | Needed for |
|---|---|---|
| ID (replacement) | $50 | Identifying yourself. You start with one. |
| Driver License | $50 | Driving legally |
| Weapon License | $50 | Legally owning and carrying a firearm |
Licences are physical items. If you lose one, buy a replacement.
A licence on paper doesn't make you immune. Police can still suspend or revoke a licence in character, for example after reckless driving or a firearm offence.
